Fire broke out near Budapest Airport – VIDEO

A Hungarian news outlet wrote that the forests and meadows around the airport transformed into a smouldering hell because of the fire that broke out on Monday. Check out the details and a video about what happened below.

According to Blikk, the National Directorate General for Disaster Management shared a statement in which they cleared the circumstances of the fire. They wrote that it broke out on Monday afternoon in the 18th district of Budapest, on a territory located between the GyömrÅ‘i, CsévézÅ‘ and Billentyű streets.

Apart from the professional staff, volunteer firefighters from Fót and Budapest’s Rózsadomb arrived. They attacked the fire from multiple sides and managed to stop the flames. 27 vehicles took part in the operation with 92 firefighters.

The fume was so great that it covered the nearby expressway between Budapest’s downtown and the Liszt Ferenc International Airport. As a result, drivers could barely see. Firefighters used drones to record the damaged territory. They said that 20 hectares of dry undergrowth were affected by the fire. The photo you can check out above is a print screen from that.

Because of the extreme heat, it is forbidden to make a fire in Hungary. That is not exceptional. Authorities regularly introduced such bans in previous years.

An extreme heatwave hit Hungary on Tuesday. Therefore, authorities issued a third-degree heat alert until Saturday. That means the daily median temperature will reach 27 °C in the following days. The disaster management and health authorities ask everybody to drink enough water and protect their skin from solar radiation. The Hungarian meteorological service said that in the second half of the week, the daily maximum would reach 40 degrees. The temperature will not go below 20 Celsius degrees even at daybreak.
